J.V. Collier interview

J.V. Collier is one of the most sought after bass players of his generation. As a student of legendary Motown bassist James Jamerson, JV learned from the best. Now, after a career which has spanned more than thirty years, he continues to share his talents with some of the most recognizable artists in the music world: Gladys Knight, Ben E. King, Al Jarreau, THE MUPPETS, The Temptations, Was Not Was, The Pointer Sisters, Bruce Hornsby, and many more.

Beyond his music, J.V. is a motivational speaker for Ohio University Southern undergraduates and students, and a great model for purple afro wigs. And for all his talents, he is one of the most humble and gracious people I know.

Here’s an interview I did with him in 2011. Click the “Play” button to listen.
